How do you go about collecting letters of recommendation before the application is out? Do you just tell the writers to put it in a word doc or something and then when the apps are out you give them a link to post it in? I'm not really sure how it works.

When PharmCAS opens up, you can put in their contact information under the "references" section. PharmCAS will then send each person a link to submit the letter and fill out a questionnaire. In the mean time, if your recommenders finish their letters before you can use PharmCAS, then they can just hold onto their copy. Let them know that you are just waiting for PharmCAS to open and once it does, they should receive an email from them with further instructions.

Ask your references way in advance (like 2 months) to start writing letters for you. It is extremely common to have people who, despite liking you, run into extraordinary difficulties in writing a letter. Some disappear, some flake out, others keep pushing it off and off. You need to give yourself a lot of time to collect letters.
