College application help.

What would be 2 good prerequisites to do in a semester? That wouldn't kill me.

Orgo is organic chemistry. Notoriously hard at least when I ask upperclassmen in my uni. The problem though, is that I'm a high school senior taking courses at my local uni, so the uni students look down on me and try to give me wrong information. I'm sure though that it is rather hard.

What is this, College Confidential?

Hi everyone, by the way.

What's up AH? How are finals going?

Not much. Wrapped up the fall semester this morning with my calculus final. My three finals for this semester were Intro to Ecology and Evolution, General Chem I, and Calculus I. Biology went really well, and the other two were a bit tough. Now next semester brings Intro to Cell Biology and Genetics, Organic Chem I, Calculus II, and Intro to Philosophy. Lots of fun. How's everything on your end of things?

Hi everyone, by the way.

Now that I reread it, it does sound a bit childish. I'm not really worried about the information I get about medicine and just pre-med studies at the uni because I get most of my knowledge from here. I love you guys! 😀

That's good.

Me? I'm blowing off studying, I can't get myself to focus before about 6:00pm. It's kinda weird. I took 1 final (econ, I found out that I hate econ by the way) and probably have around an A, A-, B+ in the class. I have a physics final on Friday that I have to do really well in.. Best case scenario, I get an A- in that. Organic Chemistry is going well, I'll get either an A or A- there.

Next semester I'll be taking Orgo II +lab, Bio 1, English, and Filipino Studies (fulfills race and ethnicity requirement and it's an easy A).

Nice to see ya again. It's so very lonely here 🙁

Just a little background...I'm working right now and just waiting till the Fall so I can go to college.

Should I get a head start on my volunteering/shadowing now?

Like you, I am also heading into college next Fall. I started volunteering the summer after sophomore year. I plan on continuing this during the summers that I come back from college and this coming summer. I would suggest you do the same so that you can knock a few hundred hours out during the summer. Try to do 2-3 days a week as that will help you rack up hours quickly. My hospital offers volunteers a meal voucher for volunteering over 4 hours, find out if the hospital you're looking for has the same type of deal. This is useful so that you don't end up spending $6 a day for lunch, hospital food is expensive. Anyways, the more hours you do now, the less you have to worry about during your college life.

Thanks for the advice.

Would you guys think it would be a good idea to take Intro to Psychology 1st semester of Freshmen year?

Or is it a hard class?

I think that depends on the college itself. It's really good if you call them up, ask about their [blank] major to get some insight into their strengths.
If you haven't visited colleges already, do so. It'll give you some sense of where the college stands in terms of where you want to go in life. Personally, I'm visiting colleges after I get accepted into them so that I can decide after that where I really want to spend the next 4 years of my life at.
