Hi my name is Steven.
I'm a junior in high school in New York. I currently have an unweighted gpa of 85 and a weighted gpa of 89. My grades have improved since freshman year ehich i believe colleges like to see. By the end of my senior year I will have taken 5 credits of mathematics (three being algebra, geometry, and algebra 2/trig, one of them pre-calculus and one being AP Calculus AB). 6 science credits (biology, earth science honors, chemistry honors, physics, AP environmental science, and AP biology). 4 standard English classes. 5 credits in foreign languages (4 Spanish (Spanish 2, Spanish 3, Spanish 4, college Spanish) 1 American sign language) and one advanced Spanish class at Molly college Friday nights. 5 credits in social studies (global history honors, AP world history, AP US history, AP Human Geography, economics, AP US government and politics) and an independent study of AP Comparative government and politics. I also have 2.5 credits in music and art.
I belong to the World Language Honor Society, big buddies club (we tutor Spanish speaking children) and I will be the president of big buddies next year. I coordinated and planned a cell phone drop for a charity called stepping stones Nigeria and i plan on hosting a telethon for that charity at our school (still discussing those details). I worked at a summer camp in the city called the big apple games for 2 summers. I also have a summer job now at a hospital called Nassau University Medical Center. I am also going to NYC or Washington DC for the National Youth Leadership Forum on medicine for 10 days in the summer.
The reason for me throwing all this information at you is to see if I would have a chance at any of these schools. (I want to go for premed and major in biology or biochemistry, and minor in Spanish). And become a trauma surgeon (hopefully in Hawaii).
These are the schools...
1. Stonybrook
2. Columbia
3. NYIT
4. University of Hawai'i
5. Syracuse university
6. Queens college
7. Cornell

Please respond 🙂 thanks!

If you want to practice medicine in Hawaii, your best bet would be to establish some sort of residency there during undergrad. I would imagine both the undergrad and medical school in Hawaii have a preference for in-state students, so being from New York puts you at a disadvantage at being admitted to either school.

Also, realize that what you want at this point in your life is very likely to change. Focus on getting good grades throughout the rest of high school and getting a good SAT score so you can get into an undergrad where you will succeed and feel most comfortable. Where you go to college for undergrad doesn't really matter all that much, but how well you do there does.

Take everything one step at a time and enjoy the moment.

Step 1 get into college. Step 2 take and ace the prereqs. Once you have done that post again and we will give you more advice. There is really no point talking about specialties and locations post residency with a high school student at this juncture.

As for your OP: Your high school GPA and EC don't really say anything about whether you will get in to med school. It's how you handle your courses and what undergraduate GPA you get that will matter.
1. Get in to a college that is affordable and that you like, take the pre-requistes and work towards a degree in ANY field that you like.
2. Take the MCAT
3. Shadow physicians and do volunteer work during undergrad
Most medical schools require a bachelors degree to matriculate, meaning you will apply after your junior/3rd year at the earliest. (Some schools only require 90 undergraduate hours, so you'd apply after sophmore/2nd year, but only very stellar applicants (and few of them) get in then).
4. Whether or not you will be a trauma surgeon will not be decided until MUCH later in your academic career (dependent on what you do when you are IN medical school). First you have to GET IN to medical school. For that, you'll need to graduate from HS and complete the above steps.

forgive me if I missed it, but what are your sat scores? Without them, there is no way to discuss your college chances.
