Hey guys can I get a high school credit from taking the course from a community college?

Depends on the university and there policy on transfers from CC's. Also depends on what type of credit, core credit or elective.

Honestly, I would just take prereqs at a CC. Try to do your cores at an actual Uni. Chances are you professors at an actual Uni will be better versed in the material so you can learn more. As far as transfers, talk to your CC and also your Uni you plan to transfer to.

But i heard that if I go to a cc the universities will bring my points down? Or was that just sum B.S.

I'm not sure if the university you choose to go to will 'bring your points down'; however, I do know that some community college courses are weighed less than university courses would be. As with everyone else's advice, I would contact your local college and prospective universities to see what the policies are; or, even have a discussion with your guidance counselor. Hope this helps! 🙂

Just taking them wont help. You need to call the 4 year univ. your interested in and ask them at so and so CC what would be an equivalent. Best thing to do is print out the 4 year Univ. course description and then take it to the CC to see what they have most similar that will match it.

The last thing you wnat to do is pay for a course or take it through a college program at your high school just to NOT have it transfered over. Remmber if your going to high ranked schools, most likely they will not take it regardless unless you took the course WHILE you were attending the school.

I dont think anyone on here can give you the correct answer unless ofcourse they did the same thing your trying to do at the same exact schools your talking about.

My high school and many others in the city had something called "dual credit." The high schools had a partnership with the area community colleges. We would take a class in high school such as pre-cal and receive both a high school and CC credit for it. Only the more challenging classes were classified as dual credit like pre-cal, calculus, senior year english, and the AP classes. The only catch was that you had to attend a state school (I attended a private school in the same city as the CCs so it was okay) for the dual credit to be accepted as a college credit.

You should look and see if your high school has something similar or contact a nearby CC.

How come you don't just take those ones at your highschool? They should be offered.
