How prestigious is Hofstra University's BA/MD program? Does anyone have more information about the program as a whole or the medical school? If I've been selected for this program and it comes down to doing this program versus going to a top-20 university, what would you recommend?

One thing it has going for it is the North Shore LIJ affiliation, besides that it does not seem to have anything too special about it. If you can get into a top 20 university that would be great, if not Hofstra is still a good university.

If you get in to med school automatically (assuming GPA requirements met), then the prestigious undergrad degree is less important. Look at the rank list of the med school to see how their grads do.

The med school's unranked (it's only in it's first year right now). That's one of the downsides to the program (the uncertainty involved with signing up to attend such a new school).

Prestige here is irrelevant, a MD from a LCME accredited school is a MD. Not to mention by the time you will have entered the medical program they will have graduated at least one class so you'll have upper classmen to help you out.
But yes, you need to tell us more information. Tell us how much the prices are, how many years the BA/MD program is ( 7? or 8?), also you need to tell us what the requirements are to be admitted after you finish undergraduate, i.e do you need to score something on the mcat, get a certain gpa, etc. Also tell us other relevant details so that we can help you make an educated and intelligent decision.

In the end, for undergrad, I'd be paying the same for Hofstra or the top-20 university. The BA/MD program is 8 years with a minimum 3.6 GPA/30 MCAT requirement. At the top-20 university, I'd have a wider range of opportunities/be able to keep my options more open.

I'd go to the top 20 in that case, id also try to get as many scholarships as one possibly can.
