I just got my letter from CSU and I'm an alternate. I was wondering of the people that were accepted who plans to go? I guess I'm just wondering how many people actually decline CSU, they don't have any statistics for that on there webpage.

I got my letter today. Im also an alternate. I was semi-bummed as it was my #1 (tied with Penn) school, but I cant complain too much given the stats for out of state applicants. Maybe the list will move quite a bit 🙂

I spoke w/ them this morning there are more than 100 on the alternate list (including the 25 or so that were accepted). She said last year they took up to #80, put in some years well into the 100s. Good luck.

I, too, called to speak with them and was directed to email Sherry Stewart. She was most helpful and informed me that I am #8 on the alternate list (#45 total on the accepted/alternate combined list) and have a "very strong" chance of being offered admission this year! 🙂 She also emphasized that they got up to #80 (accepted and alternate ranking) last year and in the low 100's the two years prior. Im very excited with this bit of news!

Best of luck all!

I got my letter on Saturday and I too am an alternate. If I don't get into either Davis or Oregon State I hope I can go to Colorado. Davis is my in state school. Oregon is my second choice because it's not as far away as Colorado. Best of luck to everyone. Maybe I'll see you at Colorado State.

i emailed dr. stewart and apparently, i'm #12 on the alternate list, #49 on the accepted/alternate list... i'm not sure i understand how that works...
what does it mean to be #49 on such a list *and an alternate* when colorado typically seats over 100 to a class? doesn't seem very logical..
or am i just missing something?

It means they offered acceptances to the first 37 people on the out of state list and the alternates start as #38, so you're the 12th alternate. Last year, they offered acceptances up to #80 on the list and the two years before that they went into the 100's. It means you have a very good chance of being offered admission after the initial rounds of admitted students decline. Congrats! 🙂

oh, okay.. she didn't say anything about it being an out-of-state list.. so i
guess that makes sense.
