Anyone know why there is an PGY2 opening? I have read on older threads that this program has low surgical numbers and is more academic. I want to be in the NYC area as my husband is in residency there but any time I see an opening I get nervous.

i think all the NYC programs are known for low cataract numbers.

Hey, sorry to hijack your question-I think that resident is switching into anesthesia at a different school. It could be that ophtho just wasn't a good fit.

But I was wondering if everyone has heard back from Columbia about their confirmed date. I got an email 2 Fridays ago offering me an interview, and then a few days later, I got another email asking for a few more days to get it sorted out. This was all pre-hurricane. Now, its 2 weeks after the original email, and emailed one more time, because I really would like to know my date so I can schedule other interviews around it. Heard nothing back.

Anyone else have this problem, or is it just me? I could attribute some of it to the hurricane, but I feel confused as to why i have heard nothing for so long...😕

Are you referring to the interview date for the open position or the date for the regular interview season (to start residency in 2014)?

If you're referring to the regular interview season, I got an email confirming my interview on Oct 24.

Good luck!

I also received an invitation to interview on Oct 19 and replied on that same day with my preference. However, I still have not heard back. I tried emailing and calling. I received an email on Oct 23 promising a reply by the 24th and an email yesterday Nov 3 promising a reply by Monday afternoon, Nov 5. I hope to hear soon!
