I received an interview invitation from Columbia on 8/16, and the e-mail said "We have enclosed travel information for your reference," however there weren't any attachments. I am an OOS applicant and may find this information useful. Should I try to contact the school and ask for the info? Is there anyone on SDN who received an interview at Columbia willing to help me out? I would really appreciate it!

It's new york city, there are an abundance of ways to get from the airport to the hotel, and from the hotel to the dental school.

But honestly, if this is a concern, I would just ask around on here or call and ask the school to re-send the e-mail or talk it over with you. I called NYU and the woman gave me some great advice on how to get there.

If you don't mind me asking, when did you send your application in for Columbia?

Thanks, I'll probably just give them a call tomorrow since today is Labor Day and they are probably closed. When's your NYU interview?

cheap and easy way to get to Columbia:

• From JFK: take A train (and stay on it) all the way to 168th/New York Presbyterian Hospital

• From Laguardia: take M60 bus to Columbia main campus (125th), then hop on A train to 168th

good place to stay: Holiday Inn @ 96th street. cheap (~80/night) and right off C line, which you can take to Columbia.

Thank you so much! That was extremely helpful!

just so you know if you can choose your flight the way from LGA is much more pleasant/easier than JFK. (using the directions from the post above, M60 to the A train to 168) still takes 1.5hrs via public transportation.

if you can spare the cash it's a $45 cab fare from JFK to CUMC. and that's regulated by the city so it's a flat rate.
