Hello,

I have a question for anyone who is in/attended Columbia's postbac program. On their application, I see that it is possible to enroll for the spring semester - which classes would you be able to take in the spring? From their course catalog, it looks like the second semester of the science courses are offered only (which makes sense, but why would enrollment be possible at this time?) So should I actually apply for summer 2008 instead? Thanks for your help!

It depends on what you need to take. As you mentioned, spring semester generally offers only the second semester sciences. The one course that is offered in the spring is Physics I (Physics II would then be offered over the summer). If you plan on working and wanted to spread your coursework out over a period longer than the usual two years this is a good option. You could also take a math course (stats or calc) if you needed to and they were offered. Otherwise, students who start in the summer would most likely be taking the prep courses. If you feel these refresher courses would help you retransition, then sign up for Summer. Otherwise, a majority of students begin in the fall.
