Columbia SDOS ---> CODM??

I was looking through some of the class sites today and noticed the class of 09 page was titled Columbia CODM instead of SDOS...i remember hearing about this change during my interview...so is it offical now? And are they changing from a DDS to a DMD? Just curious......

Hey Nikko. So you dead set on Columbia. Any word from Michigan, are you still interested or just going with Colubia. Good Luck man.

They did change the name because it used "antiquated terminology, which is no longer applicable". Everything I've found says they are keeping the same degree (DDS) though.

Yes, we have officially changed our name to Columbia University College of Dental Medicine.

DMD is in the works as well but that involves much more red tape then changing the school name. Other schools have changed their degree as well (such as temple) in the past, so we are confident that by next year we will have that under way, certainly by the time I graduate.

I talk to McManus about this last Thursday and they have to go petition the New York State Board of Regents to change the degree since that is the institution that awards it and this is not likely to happen anytime soon.

No word on Michigan yet, but I'm not losing any sleep over it..im goin to Columbia for sure. u hear from Temple at all? or u in the same boat as me? dont care cuz it doesnt matter?
