Its comming down to the wire about making my decision on NY based Post-Bacc Schools, and I'm going back and forth between Hunter and Columbia. While money is an issue for me I could proabbly squeek out the tution for columbia, if it wasn't an issue though, and setting aside the Structured v. Unstructured debate, what would you guys choose, or what did you choose and why? Is there a disadvantage to Hunter or is it just the allure of the Columbia name? Any help, guidence, adivce, experience would be appricated. Thanks

I started at Hunter and then finished at another program. There wasn't anything wrong with Hunter - I had always intended to switch because I wanted the structure and I wanted the consort option. But I think I could have stayed at Hunter and done everything there. The Columbia name will impress some adcoms, but I think Hunter is perfectly respectable. When I was at Hunter, there were others there who had switched out of the Columbia program and were much happier with Hunter. Most people I've talked to from the Columbia program were really unhappy with it.

My one frustration with Hunter was getting into classes and labs. It always worked out for me. But there was always a scramble, and I know there were people who got into the lecture part of a class but not the lab. It would be really annoying to have to make up the lab in the summer because you couldn't get in.
