Which would you choose, given that you received the Dean's Scholarship from Penn..and why

I'd pick Penn...because my boyfriend lives in Philly. Does that help you in your decision?

I'm in the same situation sss08. For me the thought process has kind of gone like this. Before I got any acceptances, I was planning on taking Columbia over Penn, because I thought that New York was a cooler city to live in. In my eyes there are some differences between the schools (grading system, number of students) but those weren't the most important things to me. So when it came to the important things they are about the same (specialty rate - high, cost - high, school facilities - they are both old, etc.). So before acceptances it came down to which city I wanted to live in - New York. However, now that I have the Dean's scholarship, I am pretty sure that I would pick Penn. I still have to think about UCLA and UCSF, so my decision hasn't been made yet, but between Penn (with the scholarship) and Columbia, I think that I would pick Penn. I don't know if that helps you, but I'm still kind of struggling with my decision as well.

P.S. for those who are hoping for the Dean's scholarship but did not get it, I am sure that a lot of them are going to be given up by people who choose to attend other schools, so don't worry, if you got an acceptance already, there is a good chance that you might still receive one of them.

If I was in your boat, I would choose penn over columbia...since you got a "scholarship"...hands down decision for me! good luck!

Thanks for all the help! I am leaning towards Penn because of the financial incentives. I agree otherwise they are both very similar.

I'm officially in the same boat as you. Dean from Penn and an offer from Columbia. Guess it's time to revive some of those penn vs columbia threads
