Time to start freaking out.

GO!

In another thread somebody asked how acceptances were sent out. I checked old threads, and it looks like they do the snail mail thing.

Do you know if they're mailed in late Feb or early March?

Their website says the initial round of acceptances goes out on March 1st. that's a Saturday, so the earliest anyone will hear will probably be the following Monday, March 3rd.

Surely we can't be the only ones anxious for these decisions to come out! Who else is waiting with me? Misery loves company...

I'm waiting too, but surprisingly not freaking out about it despite the fact that it's one of my top choices. That said, I will probably start to freak out during the last week of February.

March 1st has been circled/starred/highlighted in every planner/calendar/syllabus at my school/apartment/work for the past three months...can't wait to harass my mailman even more that first week of March!

March in general is an "oh holy ****" month. Don't wanna think about it! ( I said why not...)

Unacceptable. You have to start freaking out NOW. 😀 😀

Holy ****. I'm not talking about March. I'm talking about your MDApps. 😀

Congrats on all your acceptances!

yup i can't help it either. i'm dying to find out, of course its my top choice, can anyone offer/make up any small little detail about this or that so i can obsess for the rest of the month? leap year is not helping either🙂

Sorry, I don't have any info- fact or fictional- to provide. haha. But since I live in NYC, I'll probably be among the first to receive a decision letter, so whenever they do start sending them out, I'll let you know when I get my letter.

I've been told that Dean Frantz takes letters of intent seriously. If it's your first choice, you should let him know.

I FedEx'd him my letter of intent last weekend, it arrived on Monday.

I'm also in NYC! I guess we're probably going to hear March 3rd...

LOI - oh its been sent -

Dear Sir
You had me at hello...😍

He actually responds to thank you letters/letters of intent/whatever else with a letter and actually signs it!!! it's crazy.

I sure hope so! By the way, it also looks like we went to the same undergrad.

Whooaaa... (in my best Keanu Reeves impression). Same city, same school, same online forum... we're almost the same person. 😱 😀

What year were you? Do we know each other...? I'm going to say it's unlikely that we ever met, because all I did in college was race bikes and triathlon.

MS1 here. Last time I heard, acceptances were going out Feb 29th, which means -- if it's still priority mail like last year -- that some of you all should be getting acceptances come Saturday March 1st!!!

:luck::luck::luck: to everyone.

Excellent! Of course that means I'll be extra nervous that Saturday. But at least I'll know if I don't get anything that day that I should expect bad news. Thanks for the info.

Another NYCer here! March 1 can't come soon enough... unless I get rejected/waitlisted that is..

These next two weeks will probably be going pretty slow, but then again, I interviewed in early September, so its been a long journey as is.

I don't want to jinx myself by asking this question, but do you have any idea which weekend the revisit might be held? If I am fortunate enough to be accepted, I'd definitely want to go to revisit, but I kind of need to do a balancing act with my revisits since some of them overlap.

Holy crap.

Less than 2 weeks.

Holy crap.

What did you guys like most about Columbia? I thought we didn't get a ton of info on the interview day but I actually read through the 300-page student handbook they gave us.

I loved the fact that the school is made of rainbows and unicorns.

Seriously, though... the fact that the faculty seems so receptive to student input is awesome. One of the 2nd years who gave my tour mentioned to a faculty member the first week of school that he wanted to see a kidney transplant. A couple weeks later he was in the OR seeing it happen. That's pretty sweet. On top of that, they mentioned that the year before, people had mentioned wanting binders of all the material for a class. Supposedly they dropped $10k on them for the following year... 😱

I also love the diversity of the class!

Argh. I gotta stop thinking about this. It'll make it that much worse if I'm not accepted.

I heard Dean Frantz personally selects the incoming class and that half of the class is based on looks....is this true?

I believe it's not long after our Spring Break, which is like the last-ish week of March. Last year, revisit was AWESOME and was sometime around April 13th, so I'd expect something similar time-wise.

I don't know about that, but we all are like ridiculously good looking. I mean, I just can't keep my attention in class because there is just hotness everywhere. 😉

ahhhh! for those of us that dont get mail service on saturdays because of our stupid university mailboxes have to wait till monday for any good news!!!! i interviewed back in sept and i cant believe how long this wait has been, its ridiculous when i think about it sometimes.

good luck everyone!:luck::luck:

Ditto. I really can't stand not having Saturday mail service!

Ack. Sorry, guys.

On the other hand it isn't guaranteed that it would arrive on Saturday anyway. People in past threads were saying that it took longer than expected to receive notification...

Tick tock. 🙂

I guess I have just under 11 days. My mail typically comes early afternoon.

I was thinking about calling Dean Frantz... just to let him know that Columbia was on my mind and maybe talk about what color his daughter/granddaughter wants her wedding cake. I'll tint the buttercream baby blue, flavor it with blueberry liqueur, put blueberries everywhere, and make blue marzipan lions and flowers.

Probably a tad bit late Dienekes, haha. I'm sure if we were meant to get in, we will. Does anyone else think Frantz should look at these forums and snatch the Columbia lovers like us for being so passionate?

HAHA... Perhaps I better post more often in this thread just in case he takes a peek 😛

But yeah, that has pretty much been my motto the entire application season-- if I was meant to get into a school, then I'll get in. I think it's the only reason why I haven't gone insane during this process.

i hate waiting...

That would be awesome! Maybe we should call him up and casually mention SDN and a certain thread on it...

Nah. It's never too late. This cake will be amazing. It won't be anywhere near as amazing as the cakes my chef-instructor makes... but she has made some of the most beautiful cakes I've ever seen. 😱

in that case,
GOOOOOOOO COLLLLLLLUMBIAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!
GOOOOOOOOOO DR. FRANTZ!!!!!!!!!

I think my string of love letters addressed to Columbia c/o Dean Frantz said enough...I even sprayed each with my cologne.
