For those who are already accepted... Congrats!

I have a question for those who were interviewed and/or accepted into Columbia.... what is the interview like? One-on-one? Panel? What type of question do they ask? etc...
Also, what are your stats? I just want to see what my chances are of getting in (hopefully my stats are comparable)... I have an interview there in Jan so I would like to be prepared.

Thanks!

The search button rules!!

I did a search for "Columbia interview" under the pre-dental forum. http://www.studentdoctor.net/forums...d=47113&highlight=columbia+interview+feedback

Enjoy.

hey topher,

The interview at Columbia is a one-on-one, they ask you the general questions, like why you want to be a dentist, why columbia, and what can you contribute back to columbia. It's very kicked back just like other dental schools...(with the exception of tufts, it was a blind interview, so a lil' harder). Theres not a fixed stat for Columbia, numbers is not a main concern there, they want people who have potentials. During the interview, my interviewer told me that they have accepted people with 18s, but course theres something unique about those individuals that other individuals with 20s don't have and didn't get interviews.

i had an interview with Dr. Thompson. hopefully you will be interviewd by him. (awesome guy) we didn't talk much about academics. he said "let's put your file aside and just talk" so we talked about how he's good at making chili, music, etc. my stats were 20 academic (22bio 21organic, 20chem 19reading 17quant), 18 pat, and 3.7 gpa. be yourself and RELAX. don't try to impress them. sent my deposit there.

the interview wasn't that bad at all. I think if you get interview as soon as they review your applicatoin, you have a really high chance of getting in. My interviewer was very weird. He didn't even look like he prepared for the interivew. He was reading my stuff (my essay and gpa...etc) with me sitting there. I wasn't sure if i was supposed to talk so I just sat there waiting for him to ask any questions. AS he was going through my stuff, he would just make comments and stuff like that ( like the stuff i wrote in my essay, research..etc). He was nice but he didn't look that interested.
Well,..... don't worry about the interview although i heard that someone cried after his/her interview...
good luck~~🙂

Thanks everyone for your help... and great info. I think it will come in very handy that January day.. 🙂

My stats are very similar to some of yours... gpa 3.8 overall... 3.7 science.. so i should not be too worried then.

This was my first posting on this forum... so thanks for making it easy for me....
