... looks like a big pain. What's the point of AMCAS if the secondary is like this? Does anyone know what they mean when they ask how long addresses, emails, etc. are good for?

To think that this just one of eighteen makes me want to quit.

Cheers

year in and year out people ask the eternal question of the WTF is up with columbia's secondary. it's a good question and there is no good answer.

as far as the email addresses etc, they're just trying to make sure they know when your info becomes obsolete for the purpose of contacting you.

It just plain sucks.

Is there still a 'coursework' section? Last year, they had us put in all our undergrad coursework, and then later emailed all the applicants saying that it wasn't necessary. I had already gone through the pain of filling it out already so the email was useless, but I hope they got rid of it from the start for you guys. Good luck!!!

Yeah, it does pretty much suck. I've got no idea what to put for how long my address & email are good for - last time I checked, my parents have no plans to move!

Would you mind sharing what the questions are this year?

thanks

Did anyone else get an email from ep121@ telling you about the Columbia secondary even though your amcas hasn't been verified? Seems a bit odd to me.

Spoke with the Columbia admissions office this morning. Despite what it says in the Application Instructions, you do not need to send them transcripts or your MCAT scores.

Yes, lots of people have, myself included. It seems that after you submit your application (but before you're verified) they send out your basic info to schools that you're applying to, and then some schools that don't screen (like Columbia) will send out secondaries before you're verified.

My favorite is the fact that in the instructions book they go over the fact that they get more applicants with high numbers than they can take.

Well. Poo. Does that mean without a 35+ we're out of the game? I'm going to fill it out anyway.

The address and e-mail duration thing is so they send interview, acceptance, and other important materials to the right place. For your home address I just put 01/01/2010... it was fine... u shouldnt stress about these little things.

at this point, it's making me lean toward not bothering to fill it out. i feel inadequate with a 33. they're not rolling, so you have some time to decide.
