I didn't go through a combined program, but many of my classmates did. Personally I think it's a little hard to figure out what you want to do when you're 17 years old and applying for college. It does save on time though and you'll get to graduate really early, which makes wanting to spend a few more years specializing more attractive. However, you do miss out on some of the undergrad experience which I still think were some of the most interesting and exciting in my life.
