Hey everbody, I was wondering if anyone knows or is in a combined degree program and what that is all about and what school offers such programs. Any info on it will be great. thanx in advance 🙂

ICO has and OD/Ph.D program w/ the University of Chicago (I think). It is a six year program: First 2 years at ICO doing the standard classes, then the next 2 years and UC for the PhD work, finally you complete the final 2 years of your clinical education. I think you end up with a PhD in Visual Sciences. The program was made about 5 years ago, but no one has do it. So if you come here and do it, you could be the first!

Thats all I really know.

A lot of schools have combined OD/MS programs (ocular physics, education, educational assessment, physics), some OD/MPH programs, and I think I saw one in NY state or California where you can get an OD and JD (Doctor of Jurisprudence/Law). Of course, there are OD/MBA programs too.

SUNY has the programs Anubis84 mentions (except the OD/JD). The OD/MS program is popular (maybe 8 or so of the 72 students in my class are in it) because it can be done concurrently with the OD program, allowing you to graduate in the same four years. The OD/PhD program requires additional time beyond the four years (I know of at least one student at SUNY). To my knowledge no one is in the OD/MPH or OD/MBA programs -- they sound like a great idea, but they are through linkage programs with other colleges in the city, so I suspect they would be the most difficult to handle logistically (at least if you're in the MS or PhD programs you're at the same institution, so working out schedules is easier).
