Combining a letter of intent with an update letter?

I am writing a letter to update a school (post-interview) on recent publications and presentations. I definitely want to do an update letter because these are significant things. Would it be bad to combine this with a letter of intent, and state a few reasons why I specifically want to go to their school? Right now (mostly because of citations) it is about a page and a half long (if you took out the citations it would be less than a page).

Edit: Yes, I have other acceptances, probably not higher-ranked but at least on par.
