I am considering starting a private practice out of CAP fellowship, and to do that I would initially supplement with weekend inpatient moonlighting or a part-time outpatient job. Since I would take many insurances in these other jobs, would I be required to take all of these same insurances in my private practice? I am not opposed to taking 1-2 insurances in a private practice, but taking most insurances sounds like a logistical nightmare. Also, does this depend on the state and whether it's Medicaid or private insurance? Thanks so much!

Can you participate with one commercial insurance in one employed job but then not participate in your own private practice with the same commercial insurance?

although I am contracted with most insurers for my employed job, contracting and credentialing for my private practice is a separate matter.
However, as TexasPhysician mentions, a few private insurers may have different policies (similar to Medicare)
