This reminds me of a great story! When I externed at Parkland, the Chief at the time wears cowboy boots and he freaking loved it! The guy is the most entertaining, story-telling guy I had ever met. He told us that he wore the same cowboys boots all six years of his residency in OMFS and they're comfortable as all hell! Now that he's in his ENT residency, I wonder if he's wearing the same pair of boots?

Just bought myself a pair of Dansco's (pretty expensive though). The first 2 or 3 days of wearing them made my feet painful as hell. But, after half a week, they molded to my feet and I can't imagine anything being more comfortable when I'm on my feet most of the day. They were my present to myself for Matching 😎 ...

I bought a pair of Merrells...around 70 bucks, but also very comfortable...no offense, Tigger, but I think the Danskos are on the fruity side...

I recently got a pair of Dansko clogs. They are expensive so I went to Nordstom to try them on. I found my size and then bought them on Ebay NEW! Its a risk but I would have spent around $115 at the store and I got them on Ebay for around $45 with shipping. 👍 There are also Dansko outlets (one for sure in PA but I forget where). Good Luck

I thought Crocs were the way to go for comfy footwear.

Yeah, and they go great with my capris from Old Navy... Now I'm off for a nice relaxed day of rollerblading and watching Barbara Streisand movies 😎

See, now that's something you should have mentioned in your interviews, instead of using all those big words...

I agree, clogs are for nurses. Bjorn, Eccos, and Johnston and Murphy are all very comfortable and last a long time. I would like to see more cowboy boots in the OR.

definitely a-gender shoes...I like my redwing sidewinder boots (most comfortable shoe I've ever put on-pricey though!) or I have two pair of Clarks (senators) which are very comfy. Dansko's made my feet hurt like nothing else plus men with lisps started hitting on me...

I didn't realize TX OMS had a lisp.

If you knew how much his parents dropped on speech therapy (having a lisp in Texas would be like having a Circuit City in Amish country)...not that there's anything wrong with that...

Merrells here too. Couple of the guys in my residency just wear simple running/tennis shoes. There's also some that have burkenstocks.

Just curious.. but did he do an ENT fellowship? or is he actually doing an entire 4yr residency after OMFS? if so, why?

He's doing the full residency. I believe he wanted to teach full-time eventually.

At my program 2 of the faculty are OMFS/ENT and one is OMFS/Plastics... Seems kind of cool to me. 😎 I think I am going with Birkenstocks and some clogs I saw a character on KA cirque du soleil wear... they were Kick A$$

But, You don't need to complete 2 residencies to teach though.. I can kind of understand doing OMFS and then plastics. Prior surgery training is required prior to actually being eligible to apply to plastics. So many do either ENT, OMFS, Ortho, Uro, or general prior to applying to Plastics. But There is so much overlap with ENT, I just dont understand why you would want to do 4 more years just to have the same scope of practice (pretty much) that you already have with OMFS. Ok, maybe if you wanted more exposure to H/N cancer or something.. but if that was the case, why not just do a 2yr. fellowship in microvasular or cancer recon? 😕

THe only thing I could concieve of why you'd want to do ENT after OMFS is if you had a real urge to get into cochlear implants or something.

sorry.. Just a little confused/curious why this would be valuable to an OMFS grad...

But what do you think about the clogs I saw a character on KA cirque du soleil? This should be about comfy clogs. 😀

Boots. Definitely.

On a side note, we ran off an extern once from making fun of his lame a$$ bright blue clogs. Looked just like these yellow ones, but bright blue. They were definitely fairy shoes, and he left withing 24 hours of showing up. Just picked up his coat and said, "I'll be back in a minute," and never came back. Funny stuff.:meanie:

That is a true story. Pretty funny, actually. The staff didn't notice the guy was gone for three days. Then they started asking questions and got a little scared because nobody knew where the guy was. Hilarious.

Damn! I never took you San Antonio boys for being this hardcore! This sounds like the lore of Parkland, even though all our dinguses have now graduated. OK, except me.

You say that again, brother.

What a riot...I thought you were kidding...

Kind of reminds me of when SwampYankee disappeared for three days...he, however, reappeared...
