GORO, gyngyn, LizzyM, and other adcoms, have you ever come across an application that you could, with some reasonable degree of confidence, tie to a particular poster on SDN? I know this chances are insanely small, but im curious if anyone ever given up just a little too much info about themselves/ their app and then you then came across what may have been their real application

Yes, >15 years ago. Person PM'ed me to ask about wearing a certain uniform to the interview at an unnamed school. Next day, I find out I'm to interview someone the following morning who was entitled to wear said uniform. Next day, applicant shows up in uniform. Was it the same person? I had to figure that it was but I did not reveal my identity. I couldn't recuse myself because there was no way I knew this person outside of SDN and I was not "out" at my school. Person got admitted to at least 6 top 20 schools, plus a couple of others. I can't say I was surprised... terrific applicant.

I've never IDed an SDNer from their application information, but once I connected an MS-4 to a user I "knew" from detailed posts about three unusual interests.

Not an adcom, but on the student side I've identified several people from my med school or undergrad who also post on SDN (it helps if they post a lot on your school specific thread, but I've identified some by a recognizable username, etc). Some of them were easier to figure out than others. There's only one of them that I think I might have been able to recognize if we had met at the interview. Anecdotally, I've heard from some of my classmates that they recognized a somewhat notorious poster from our school-specific thread that year during their interview day.

That would be funny if Walter Raleigh was the same in person as he was on SDN. He would probably be banned from the interview as quickly as he was from here... haha

I had 3 people (other applicants, not interviewers or students) at my first interview ask me “Are you Elmo from SDN?” Just by me saying “Army” and “Daughter” so...I can imagine it happens to others lol

I contemplated posting in this thread that I am 100% confident everyone will be able to spot memes

I found my friend from college who goes to boonshoft now based on his bio/footer thing, username, speaking language, etc lmfao

I actually think it could be cool to bump into somebody from SDN on an interview or two... not that I'm particularly memorable. Anyone who attends my UG and knows me to any significant extent could definitely ID me from my posts and typing style though.
Happened to me at Pritzker! Pretty cool and a little fun to discuss what you have seen on the forums together lol.
