My fluff isn't really tailored towards being a pharmacy applicant, but I've also heard many an applicant on these boards claim they were accepted to their first choice school with little to no experience.
Here's what I've got in volunteer work:
104 hours in a radiology clinic
10 hours in a free clinic
30 hours in a juvenile detention center tutoring detained children
40 hours in a nursing home where I developed an Alzheimer's Support Group
I spent 20 hours shadowing an MD.
I just spent a day shadowing a pharmacist. He'll be one of my letters of recommendation and graduated from my school of choice (that can't be bad, right?).
I am and have been studying for the August PCAT. Should I just keep going full speed (choo choo) for the PCAT, or try and beef up my pharmacy volunteer experience as well?
I have a second question regarding my rec letters. I know my first two letters.
For my second two letters my choices are:
A) Anatomy professor I tutored for (no control over content, but very good stuff)
B) Head of Sociology Dept at my school - I'm a Socy undergrad, did a research project under him (Some control over the content).
C) Head of Student Health at my school. I did my thesis project with her. Her name will be familiar to the program, but I have full control over what goes in this letter.
D) Orgo lab professor. Made an A in her class, but I made a C in lecture that semester. Letter will be good, but no control over the content and I don't know her better than first name basis.
Thanks for reading. I'd really appreciate some opinions.
