  1. Pre-Optometry
What exactly is commercial optometry?
I understand it is where an optometrist works directly with another company, like Wal-mart, Costco, Eyeglass World, EyeMasters, Lenscrafter, etc. is that different from Retail optometry?
Does anyone know if there is a website that can describe the different modes of practice?

the same.

There are ODs working in private practice, hospitals, VA hospitals, Indian health reserve and Armed forces. If you work for the government or most of the hospitals, most likely, you will get a fixed salary. However, it is possible to buy into a private practice that you work or get paid buy commission. However, the down side is that you won't find too many good private practice opportunities.

does anyone know what the approx salary is if you work for the gov't?? also, if you work for the gov't, do they also pay for your loans??
