For those who are using the school's Health professional committe service, when does your school start sending out the letters? My school won't start till late august and I'm a little upset with them, but what can I do =(

I just got the email this morning telling me they were sending mine out 😎

Usually they don't write them 'till august though, so I feel pretty special.

Last year, my undergrad school's committee sent out the letters around August 19th. Just have everything else submitted in advance, and have the school send the letters directly to the dental schools you are applying to. This way, your application will be complete by late August, which certainly isn't too late.

Thanks for the input. My AADSAS is in the mailing stage and I submitted my secondries, so I am hoping for the best.

Not sure if this will make you feel better, but my school doesn't have a committee--- basically you make it yourself.

Well, the advisor who will write mine is a scallywag and never gets anything done when you ask him to... AADSAS was really prompt in putting up my other two letters of rec. and so i'm pretty sure he hasn't sent his.

He didn't send mine last year, so i literally had to take a copy of it, signed sealed etc. to an interview. So it could be worse!

Make sure you do your interview at the end of your spring semester. I'd say schedule an intervie the week after your finals.

Then give your pre-health advisor/idiot (depending on whether you like your advisor or not) special instructions on writing up the letter, and constantly harrassing him or her to send it out before the end of June. You have to be pro-active and don't expect the advisor/idiot to only focus on your letter, as there are five or more students requesting pre-health committee letters.

i agree with the post above...at my school the pre health conselour told me that she wouldnt work on my mine until she had finished with all the med school kids so i harassed the hell out of her to send my stuff and it totally worked. i ended up interviewing at all 3 schools i applied to in the beginning of august.

That's crazy that they send it out in Aug!!! Our committee sent ours out the first week of June and everyone in our dental club was very upset. We start with the committee in November so I guess we expected to have them all sent out as soon as we could apply with AADSAS. It seems as if our committee also favors the pre-med students and works with them more. Good luck to all those who don't have their letters sent out yet.

oh, yeah. I came to him before school was over and said that it was crucial it be in early. He went on a month long vacation before that AADSAS application became available so I couldn't give him the stuff before he left to do it.
