You need one from a dentist in addition to the committee letter for a total of two letters. Your committee will simply mail it in to AADSAS processing center with your LOR Match Form, and it'll be uploaded into your file. You don't need anything separate for the committee.

Oh ok so the two science, one dentist, and one non science LORS that I sent to the committee will be uploaded to AADSAS by them?

No. The committee opens those letters, reads them (at some schools they interview you too), and mashes them up into a singular letter. This committee letter takes the place of your 3 academic letters. I believe you still need to mail in a separate letter from a dentist. So if you go the committee route, you'll have 2 letters in aadsas.

If you already have all those letters, I would just upload those to aadsas myself. Why wait for a committee that is just going to slap together words from ppl that actually knew you?

Even if I sent those LORS to the committee already can I still upload them to aadsas? Nervous I made a horrible mistake by sending everything I had to the committee🙁

Yeah. Just tell them no thanks. You don't even have an aadsas profile yet.

Wait what? We need a letter from a. Dentist? Where did you get that idea from?

Im sure they all wrote their letters on the computer, just ask them if they would upload their letters to AADSAS when the application opens. I had a professor that kept my letter for 3 years.

What if our committee mashes the dentist rec into the committee letter, but also sends the individual dentist rec in the whole package. Is that fine? Are the committee letters usually not supposed to contain the dentist rec?

With a committee letter you can submit one other letter, have your dentist upload his letter himself.

Exactly. OP, why did you give the committee the dentist letter anyways. Did they ask for it?

In all honesty, I'm not sure why people use committee letters. It's like that game 'Chinese Whispers' where one person tells another something, and the message travels down the line. At the end, the final message is some mash-up that may lack original detail. You already have LORs on your professors' computers. Just ask them to eUpload through aadsas and you're done.

I got confused and thought they would upload all I sent to them to AADSAS not mash it up. I was told by the dean of the dental school at my college that a committee letter would look really good so I just went with it honestly...Seems like a mistake now though...

Okay, What's going on here? Let me make sure Im not missing anything here. What I know is that One committee letter fully fills the LOR requirement including letters from dentists, isn't it? I already submitted 6 letters to get the committee letter ( 4 academic, 2 dentist). But, It sounds like I need an extra letter from a dentist according to this thread. Which one is right? Do I need a separate letter from a dentist? (Then why I am using the committee letter?🙁 )

I always thought the committee letter was for all things school related, but I never used one. I think if you get a nice letter from a dentist use it by itself.

Off the top of my head, Hawkteeth is correct. It's for academic resources. I don't recall which, but some of the schools that said they'd prefer a committee letter said they need a dentist's LOR in addition.

That said, 6 letters is ridiculous. What a headache! Lol. My university would make us compile 5, fill out some ridiculous CV, and then interview with a panel of strangers so they could fill in the gaps for our letter. I told any schools needing that much to piss off, and just submitted individual letters. It worked out and those schools that "highly preferred" the com. letter still interviewed me. It goes to show there's no wrong way to do things, but possibly an easier way.
