Common/Normal for early & good-stat applicants to receive late II's?

The general consensus here, I believe, is that it's still early to be receiving II's from MD schools, correct? Should we be concerned if we don't receive at least one II by Thanksgiving/November, especially if we had complete apps since mid-July? Or is it fairly common for early applicants to receive II's after this time?

Yes, people are freaking out now because they are neurotic. On the other hand, things are definitely cooking by Thanksgiving. Depending on what you consider "good stat," it is perfectly reasonable to expect to have some IIs by then, depending, of course, on which and how many schools you applied to, and what the rest of your application looks like. IIs do go out until the spring, but most are done by January and many are out by Thanksgiving, so it's reasonable to start planning for a reapplication if you don't have anything by the end of November.

Early/late applicant really isn't a thing, as has been stated repeatedly here by adcoms. Early is always better than late, but apps are NOT processed chronologically, and the timing for your application will depend on which bucket it is in (which can be different for each school), and how large and how quickly that queue is moving. Every year, people apply in October and report fast turnarounds, and others apply in July and report IIs in January. EVERY YEAR!!!!!!

You could get an II as late as March or even April for MD schools, based upon comments from numerous SDNers.

Remember that you're not the only good applicant applying. And Schools stratify the apps as they come in and don't send out secondaries or IIs merely in chronological order.

Not directed at you, OP, but SDNers are advised to not to have the mindset of “I sent in my apps; where are my IIs???!!!”
