One of the Deans at a school told me that they would just wait until I've responded before putting my name into their AAMC list of accepted students. I'm guessing it's yield protection? I have to choose between them and my current school, but it just seemed off to me.

It feels as though if I said no, then there would be no record of my ever having been accepted there. Would this work for or against me if another in state school looks at my acceptances?

I have heard that some schools try to protect their yield in this way which is, I believe, against AMCAS TOS for the med schools to play that way. I wouldn't see it working for or against you at this late date.

Thank you for the information! It was in reference to one of my in state schools with a history of calling people the day before classes start.

Now all that's left to decide today is whether saving $100,000 is worth going to this school. 😳

If the candidate has received a previous waitlist decision, it is ok to call and ask if they are still interested in being considered for admission (especially this late).
This is often necessary because, no ever seems to remove themselves from a waitlist. We have watilisted applicants holding acceptances to HMS, for example.
If the candidate has not had a decision rendered, it would be inappropriate to call before giving the decision.
