Hi guys,

I'm going to be going to a 4-year university in the fall, but my parents have suggested that I take a class at a cc this summer to get some credits out of the way. I was thinking about taking something non-science related like Spanish. I've done some searching on this site to see what other people say about it, but all I've found is threads about people taking science pre-reqs at cc. My main concern is that getting credit at a cc will be looked down upon should I decide to apply to some form of graduate school (medicine, pharmacy, etc.) I didn't think it would be that much of an issue since I wouldn't be taking something like bio or chem, but I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks!!

If it transfers and isn't a pre-req for med school, go for it.

Yes you can take classes at community college. You can even take pre reqs for medical school but since you are already enrolled in a 4 year it would probably be best to take the pre reqs at the 4 year so it won't look like you're trying to take an easier course.

As the others said, take it as long as it is not a pre req for medical school. Medical schools like to see the pre reqs taken at a University. Anything else can come from a cc.

What about calculus?

And courses that are "recommended" for med school like psychology and sociology?

Just to beat a dead horse :beat:

Like everyone else said, taking non science classes at a CC shouldn't hurt you. Don't take your pre-reqs at CC since you'd already be enrolled at a University by fall, as it would look as if you're trying to take them because they might be easier, ergo making you look less competitive.

I plan on attending CC for 1-2 years. Of course it'd be hard to complete all my pre-reqs by the time i reach the University. I was told by some on this forum that I should take Upper level pre-reqs at a University and lower levels at CC.
