I need to retake a couple of my pre reqs but i am almost done with my undergrad degree and instead of putting more money that i don't really have into a 4 year institution would it be ok to retake the pre reqs at a community college? i will be applying primarily for DO schools. anything helps, thanks!!

There have been a number of threads that have gone over this topic. Please use the search bar or even go back to page 2 or 3 of the threads.

In short, yes. You can retake courses at a CC, but the course name/number and information must be identical or else your grade won't be replaced.

EDIT: Actually, you can probably just ignore my advice since you decided to do that about 3 weeks ago. I event posted a link to a different thread for you 😏

I called AACOMAS directly and while they said that the course name had to be the same i.e. Genetics at 4-year university must be Genetics at CC, they didn't say that the course numbers had to be the same. My 4 year college is a 3301 Genetics course and at my CC it is 2401. I called 4 times and each time they said it would be fine and would replace. Do you think this is correct? Has anyone had issues with this?

I think the course number doesn't have to be the same. Not sure why I put that. Every college/uni will have a different course number for the same class offered elsewhere, so I would go with what AACOMAS said. My apologies!

Courses must have extremely similar titles or it will not count. I learned this the hard way on a few of my courses. And retaking at a CC is okay as long as you have valid reasons for doing so. It may or may not come up doing the med interview.

Money is always the motive. CC is way cheaper and easier to get into classes than state schools.

Bingo, that was my motive. However, OP should aim as close to a 4.0 as possible in case the interview catches on that the post-bac classes were at a CC. The stigma that all CC courses are significant easier than their state school/UC counterpart is alive and prevalent.
