Used the search function, but I couldn't find an answer to my problem.

I'm currently in CC and I'm wondering if it would be wise to transfer out before I graduate and receive my associates? So far, I've only taken Gen Chem, Calculus I/II, and one Bio course. Would the chances of me getting accepted into MD go down because I took these classes in CC?

I would say transfer out to a 4-year institution as soon as possible. I stayed in the CC till I finished my associate with honors and a 4.0. Then, transferred to the 4-year institution and was a disaster for me. My first semester GPA went down to 3.3 and the tests and the way they taught were so different from the CC. I took all my premeds at the CC and only took orgo and orgo lab at the 4-year institution. I am studying for the MCAT and I am suffering with gen chem, physics AND biology because there is a ton of information that I did not learn in the CC (again I got a 4.0 there). so save yourself ASAP. I am sure the drop down in gpa will hurt me a lot and that's why I am trying to focus on MCAT. Also, some med schools won't take community college courses like johns hopkins and other schools say it's a case by case thing. I hope that helps, good luck!

I finished my AS at a CC and then transferred to a 4 year university. I don't think starting at the CC hurt me as I had over a half dozen acceptances this year. As with anything you get out what you put into it. I do however think it is smart to take as many prerequisite courses at a 4 year university as the content is much deeper and will help to prepare for the MCAT. So it's really dealers choice on this issue.

it's a urban legend amongst pre-meds that MD programs look down upon CC coursework (which can be as rigorus as any 4 year school). There may be a few that do so, but you're fine.

Do they include a separate column called "Comm College Accepted?" next to each class required to apply to a school in the MSAR solely to perpetuate this urban legend? If so, it's mean and they should stop stressing me out.
