Hi

Im just wondering, in terms of LOR I have two options

Rads from community, academic surgery, surgery, maybe IR

or Rads from academic, community surgeons/IR

I have a surgery Sub I scheduled for september which I can replace with a rads rotation in hopes of getting a PD radiology letter versus my community rads letter. Should I just stick with the surgery sub i?

Your question is a little difficult to understand. From what I gather you currently have these four letters:

Community Rads
Academic Surgery
Community Surgery
IR

You have the option of replacing a community rads letter with a PD letter if you drop your surgery Sub I.

If this is the case, and I think you need 3? LOR's. I would make sure at least one letter is from a radiologist, then I would choose whatever letters you think is best. Your PD letter would be nice, but I sincerely doubt you'll impress him/her enough (or even have enough one on one exposure) to get a good letter during a single rotation. An exception to that would be that your PD is an interventionalist.

Regarding your own training in an effort to be the best physician possible, a surgery sub i is infinitely more important to you than another radiology rotation. You'll get plenty of radiology training during residency.

Right, the conflict is between academic surgery letter vs an academic radiology one....

I'm a carrib img with pretty good stats so I'm trying to maximize my chances
