I'm having a really hard time deciding how to rank...i interviewed at a few community programs that i really liked - also feel i would be much happier b/c of better call schedules (i have a newborn daughter at home!)
BUT, i think i want to have an academic career...Advice?
i dont think i want to specialize, but like the idea of staying in academics for the teaching aspect...
is it possible to go from a community program into a strong academic general peds fellowship? or rwj type fellowship?
or should i just stick with an academic program?
thanks for any help!

I don't think a community program will necessarily keep you from teaching. A couple of my favorite faculty did their residencies in community programs. If you would be happier in a program where you could have more time with your baby then by all means rank that program first. You can still rank the academic programs, and may still go there any way. Good luck.
