Hey everyone,
I'm sure this topic has been discussed in the past but I wanted to revisit it and perhaps get some fresh viewpoints. What are everyone's opinions on these two IM programs, in terms of the benefits and disadvantages of going to one versus the other? Most IM faculty at my school rank UofC ahead of Northwestern as far as Chicago programs go, and many call UofC a top-ten program. My understanding is that Northwestern's facilities are exceptional and the location can't be beat (as opposed to UofC in Hyde Park and surrounding areas such as Englewood). I'm also aware that NWU training may afford less diversity of patients and perhaps less volume. Does anyone have any other thoughts on these two programs?
Furthermore, how would you compare the two based on a career goal of going into Cardiology? I have heard that many UofC cardiologists are top-notch but would be interested to hear if anyone else has any thoughts on this...
