Hello everyone,

I have been working retail for a year in a half now. I now know that it is not for me. I have been apply to hospital jobs in the Illinois area, but some say they need be to have pharmacokinetic and antibiotic competencies. I am not sure what this means. Does this mean I must be board certified? If so, isn't board certification only allowed for those who have practiced in the hospital already. I would also appreciate any advise for others who have made this transition. Thanks.

They probably just mean that you need to have experience in those areas. That would be my guess.

Our hospital has Competencies, but they are administered internally. Offers are extended with the condition that you must pass the competencies within 90days of hire. We also require all clinical pharmacists to retake the competencies yearly.
That makes since. I guess Ill submit my resume and see what happens. Thanks.
