-I am a 30-year old male.
-I have a bachelor's degree in business administration with a specialty in accounting from Marymount University.
-My cumulative GPA there was 3.591. Last 45 semester credits GPA was 3.84.
-I worked as a paralegal for about 7 years (7 years too long as it did not take long to figure out that I did not want to become a lawyer).
-I took the GRE in September and scored: V: 154; Q: 155; AW: 4.0.
-I also started taking science prerequisites in September and got an A in A&P (the term ended today). Awaiting grades in Chemistry and Physics, but those should be As as well. I will finish the full sequence of each of these courses by the end of next spring with only one or two Biology courses outstanding after applying for Fall 2014.
-I have not yet started doing observation hours but have two 8-hour days lined up with home health PTs and another 8-hour day lined up in an acute/sub-acute care setting. I realize that I still need a lot more after doing these and that diversity in hours is critical.
-I am an avid runner and outdoor enthusiast. I have had my fair share of injuries, surgeries, and PT visits, which is how I became interested in the profession in the first place.
-Outside of business club in college, I have zero extras. In terms of leadership experience, I would point to my previous professional work. Otherwise, it's pretty thin, which concerns me.

I live in Ashland, Oregon and am, thus, most interested in the DPT program at Pacific University. I am also interested in University of Montana, University of Puget Sound, and Northern Arizona University. Perhaps some east coast schools, as well, just to be safe.

I think NAU is the most competitive on this list, but how do I stack up generally? I like my odds at at least a few of these schools, but I hope for some insight from folks who have been through the application process. Also, does anyone have any insight on whether applying with outstanding prerequisites weakens an application?

Thanks so much!

Your stats are definitely competitive. I would just be worried about your lack of observation hours as those tend to show a commitment and passion towards the field. You will definitely get interviews so make sure you have a good reason to explain that.

Thanks for your response, GMA. I agree. I'm going hard on observation hours starting Thursday. I've got about 30 hours in three different settings lined up over the next week, and my hope is that I'll be able to maintain some consistency in my hours through the end of the spring 2013, when I plan to start applying. I did finally hear back from the program director at Pacific University (they must be super busy up there), who said that while it's ok to apply with outstanding prerequisites, if one has a low prerequisite GPA, it would make sense to take as many as possible before applying to bolster that GPA (which doesn't apply in my case, so I think I'm ok on that front).
