That's nine...how many should one rank to have a reasonable shot (USMLE = avg + 1 standard deviation)?
 
I would say that they all seem to be about the same level of competitiveness. Rank as many as you would be willing to go to. DO NOT RANK A PLACE THAT YOU DON'T WANT TO GO TO.
 
i believe NRMP data for MedPeds suggests ranking 8 programs to successfully match....

find that data at the NRMP site, its pretty useful...

however, from what i have gathered from the MedPeds community it is more than board scores. its an all around application that is highly regarded.

We include a lot of noncognitive attributes when creating the rank list, up to and including how much babysitting was needed to arrange travel.
