I have a year 1 cumulative exam coming up at the beginning of June a week after our final block (reproduction) ends.

My school has blocks. The first three blocks were an introduction to medical sciences, i.e. genetics, immunology, microbiology, pathology of inflammation, cancer, etc, some pharm. The final three blocks are systems-based (GI, neuro/psych, and repro).

I have heard rumors that this test is NBME questions.

Do other schools have this comprehensive year 1 exam? What is the best way to study for this? I've done a bit above-average on all my exams, but I don't feel like I retain information as long as my classmates do. I'm considering just brute-forcing everything and going through all my power points once, as well as reading the relevant chapters of Robbins and an immunology book that I remember I liked. Any other suggestions as to how to do this?

We have one, 5 days after our block final. We are told that the questions on our test are pulled by our professors from an NBME question bank.

We covered essentially all the normal first year material, plus the first few chapters of Robbins and pharmacodynamics.

My plan is to read first aid, then do questions from brs anatomy and physiology. Will try to make a quick pass through HY Neuro but it might be a bit too much.

For your case, I don't know how your test will be structured but I think it will take you far too long to go through all your Powerpoints, and you will spend too much time on low yield stuff. If I were you, I would use FA, and whatever source of questions you like. If you learned the material well the first time, it will come back quickly even if you think you have forgotten.

My school had something similar. We were given 5 days to study for it.

At first I tried hitting the highlights of my notes throughout the year, then I realized this was going to take up too much time.

I opened First-Aid and studied the basic science chapters, skipping any content I did not read about/see in class.

My school has one also, two days after our final exam. I will probably not study for it because that's ridiculous. I'm going to relax for two days and just take the test to the best of my ability the day of. Two days of studying won't yield any kind of significant results in my opinion.
