I just saw a video on youtube about some dude that had a prosthetic limb that could recieve signals from the nervous system. The mechanical limb would do what the patient wanted it to do just by thinking. Do any of you guys know if there is a computer system that can send electrical signals to the brain which would then in turn be interpreted by the the brain? Is that even possible? If this is possible couldn't we hypotheticaly download information into our brains. Wouldn't that be nice, no more studing books for hours on end.👍

This is sort of how a cochlear implant works. It actually stimulates the cochlea, not the brain directly, but it's a similar concept.

There are also some primitive "artificial vision" devices that directly stimulate the occipital region to produce "sight" but I'm not familiar enough with those to really discuss them.

As for the "downloading info" part . . . don't I wish!!!!!! I could download all of YouTube and entertain myself for hours! Interesting to think though about what kind of new "viruses" we might end up with that way! :scared:
