If you want to get the best displays that are not on a Mac, go with Lenovo or Sony; with the Sony's costing a bit more. You get over the whole "it's a tablet" thing pretty quickly, so don't pay the extra to get it if you don't need it. If you go with whatever the school uses, usually Dell or HP, you may be able to get faster/cheaper service through your school than on your own.
