So, I've been feeling stubborn and have been using a computer for notes (tablet with onenote) I spent a lot of money on it and don't want to have a stack of papers my height by next month BUT I've always been a paper note person and I don't feel like the information is making it into my head. I feel like the compartmentalizing that for me is part of learning is stripped away by a computer. Plus my mind goes blank when I stare at a screen. Should I throw in the towel and just go back to paper? I miiiiissss it, and I don't goof off as much using it. Incidentally, just had first exams and the one I did best on was the one where I did drawings and wrote out abbreviated notes on PAPER.

Sounds like you answered your own question. Do what works. Chuck what doesn't.

eh, sometimes I miss the obvious, like when I answer my own questions. Thank you for pointing it out. I'm just feeling bad because I spent all this money on a tablet PC and want to join the modern age.

I stopped using my computer after getting massive headaches from staring at .pdfs for hours on end. I like the convenience of the computer, but I simply can't study from the screen anymore.

Lol - don't be guilt tripped by your consumerism.

I don't like taking notes on computers - I'm not sure why since it's generally more convenient. I prefer printing off the lectures and taking notes on the printouts.

Guessing something to do with kinesthetic learning. I'm heavily kinesthetic and like the OP I prefer notes on paper to comp, even though it would be easy to search through notes with Control F instead of digging around. But I roughly remember where everything is anyways when I have handwritten notes and I prefer reading that/textbooks to reading them on the comp. I just like touching the pages and having something in my hands rather than staring at a screen for hours.

Gl OP! Don't feel bad about wasting money, consider it a trial and error, investing money towards experience. You have to try things to figure out what does and doesn't work for you and what you do and do not like. And this isn't always free.

You *will* feel bad if you stick with what doesn't work and your scores aren't as good as they could be.

Tablets are useful, regardless of whether the notes are on them or not.

What's gonna happen when you take CBTs like USMLE? I use both paper and digital notes. In the end though, for review, all I need are my digital notes b/c they contain all the info. on the paper notes. In class, I always take notes on paper though.

If paper works for you, then go to town on it! Tablet PC can be used in oh so many other ways apart from note taking. Think of the good exam results and you will not feel as bad about spending a small fortune on a PC
