I have been taking practice RC of CTD and have been scoring as follows: 18,17,17... I am concerned with these numbers and wonder of there accuracy to when I take the real thing.

From what I have been reading, CTD RC scores seem to be reflective of the true DAT by a point or two... Any input to this?

I'm a Bio. major and my current GPA is 3.98.

I'd appreciate notes of how to improve my verbal score and any experience relating CTD RC to the real DAT.

For my RC, I got a 23. My CDR scores ranged from 23-25, so I would say that CDR is very close to the real DAT in terms of gauging how you stand with the RC section. In terms of the actual passages they present, it had more history-based passages if my memory is correct. The real DAT had more science passages though. However, the length of the passages were on par with the real DAT. So overall, I would say that it does a good job in reflecting the real DAT RC section.

How to improve your RC scores? It depends on what method works for you. I read the whole passages then answered the questions. Other people dive right into the questions then refer back to the passage ("search and destroy" method). I would stick to whatever method works for you while practicing with CDR to help you become more familiar with your technique of choice. Don't switch techniques unless one is absolutely not helping you. To build my RC reading speed, I would read the news everyday. I would also read scientific journals and articles, sometimes even dental publications. This helps to build your abilities in getting an overall meaning of a passage without being bogged down with scientific jargon. Other than that, I practiced RC as much as I could, sometimes taking the same CDR test over and over again until I got it right.
