I am considering applying to Ross, however someone I know has just started the January 11 term there and is very upset. She said that the school is not at all like the description in seminars/brochures, etc. She told me that the school is run down and very disorganized. She is very concerned that she has wasted her money. As a minor example, the lockers that some students are given are wooden and are outside, exposed to the elements. Some of the buildings are rusting metal and others look like outbuildings. She is afraid that the school perpetrated a bait and switch. She is wondering if in fact people from ross get clinicals/residencies as claimed.
I would love some input before I even consider applying... right not, Ross is gone from first on my list of off shore schools to last...
The school is not run down, and the lockers are outside, but there really nothing wrong with having lockers outside. You friend is probably just going through that initial culture shock that we all go through, but she'll get over it.
The thing you have to remember is this is the Caribbean, things work different here. Lockers are outside yes, but not all the buildings are connected by indoor hallways because there is nice weather here. I don't know what exactly what you meant by the school being disorganized, but in some ways it is, but at the same time somehow things always seem to work out.
There are thousands of Ross graduates who are working in the States, and while yes there are some graduates that do not match, more students will match then don't. And there's usually a reason why those that don't match didn't.
Dominica is a poor country. You have to remember that coming here is going to put you in the middle of nowhere, without the comforts of home which is why I always tell people to bring whatever they need to be comfortable in your apartment here. But for those people that are princesses, look at SGU or AUC.
Just remember if you are applying to the Caribbean Ross, SGU, AUC and SABA are the only schools to consider.
If you have anymore specific questions I'm more then happy to help.
