Did anyone take a very long time to get the report back? I am pretty sure that I am clean, but it has been a week since I submitted my application and the status is still shown "In Progress." I tried to call the company, the only thing that the customer service said is "I dont know."

I had the same thing happen to me when I did it about a month ago. I remember being concerned about it too. Don't worry, it just takes a little longer for some people even if they're clean. I called them and they gave me the same run around. It took mine about 2 weeks or so which was a long time compared to everyone else.

Hang on there, you may not have to pay even if your school is listed...

I got the same email and noticed that two of my acceptances were from schools on their list. So I called AADSAS and then the company running the background check to see if I have to pay for each school or just one time. The rep said that I should ask the schools directly if they use the service because many schools are "signed up" but haven't been using it for whatever reason.

Thus, I called the school I was going to deposit at and asked even though their name was on the list of schools. The person said no and that I don't have to spend $150. Nice!

Hopefully others will save a few bucks too.

So I *just* got this email. I received two acceptances on Dec 1 but didn't receive it even though one of the schools is on the participating list. I just deposited at Case Western a couple days ago and tonight I got this email.

Is this mandatory even for Canadian/International applicants or if it would cost more?

Also, the email stated that my offer was conditional. I assume they mean conditional based on passing the criminal background check, not conditional on any academic standards that they obviously couldn't know about, right?

In my offer letter they stated that my acceptance was conditional on the background check. Thats how it was worded. It also stated that the check had to be done at the latest, on the last day that the offer was valid.

I suggest you call Case on Monday to inquire.

Will do. Just checked the NYU FB page and it turns out the background check isn't required for them which is why I wasn't emailed for NYU.

Still leaning towards NYU but I figure I'll entertain another fee. Ugh.

Let's say on Dec 1st I got into Pitt and I did the background check right away. In january I also decided to deposit with Penn. Does Penn have access to this check? They both use the Certiphi. Not sure if I have to resend or not

dante if you visit that website there is a list of schools that are participating in that program. If Penn is on the list then you're good to go.
