Conference Course/Workshop Fees - Tax Deductible?

New Doc, attending an EM conference that offers in its programming some courses/workshops, each for a fee. Wondering if this kind of thing may be tax-deductible since it's skills learned for my job. Anyone have any experience with this?

Are you an independent contractor? If so, all of this is deductible as an ordinary business expense on your schedule C. If you're employed, probably not.
