I am wondering if there are medical schools that do NOT view non confidential letters? if so, which schools?

Also, I am would like some feedback on whether I should designate a letter as non confidential from a research supervisor that I get the impression does not really like me.

Thanks!

IMO if you're not confident enough to designate it as confidential, do not even bother with the letter. Schools may review the letter, but it will not hold nearly the weight that a confidential letter would hold.

All schools will look at them, but they will also all ROFLMAO LOL their way to rejecting you. DON'T DO IT! Waive your rights man.

It is my understanding that it is severely frowned upon not to waive your rights to read the letter. Waive them, if you don't trust the person writing the letter for you, ask someone else. Most letter writers are professionals and know how to politely decline if they do not feel comfortable writing a positive letter.

The confidential vs. non-confidential options only applies to applicants using Interfolio, correct?

From what my advisor said, if you're not confident enough to waive it then the letter won't be good enough, and the medical schools will look down on that, something to consider

I submitted the AMCAS primary this June and there wasn't even an option to view letters. You are forced to submit them confidentially.

Yeah, but if you use interfolio you can make them non-confidential, and it seems AMCAS would report this to the school, but who knows actually. Interesting thing to call AMCAS on and see. - Maybe interfolio notes on the letter that is non-confidential??

I think he means when requesting the letter form the actual person writing it, when I did I had to provide a form that said I waived my right to view it, i.e. making it confidential. This was all pre-AMCAS
