Confirmation from programs

I was just curious... How long has it been for people between sending in your application and getting confirmations from programs?

I know mine were processed last week and sent on Monday to programs, but I've only received 1 confirmation email from a program since then. I'm just worried that my documents were not distributed properly or something. Anyone have any clue on this? I guess programs might be taking longer now since the application volume has likely gone up too.

Ive been complete since 7/22 and still only have 6 or 7 "confirmations" from programs. Some of them just might not bother to contact you unless they want to interview you.

Don't worry, programs vary in how long they take to send a confirmation. My app was sent to programs a week ago, and I have been receiving confirmation emails sporadically since then. From what I hear, some programs (the top programs) will only notify you for an interview, and not for a confirmation nor to let you know you have been rejected.

I wouldnt say there is any true trend in if "top" programs send confirmations, rejections, etc...also, to call a program a "top" program is certainly objective.

There are lots of programs that are VERY good (and agreed upon by many) but not a good fit for that particular individual. One of my friends put the likes of Emory, Baylor, and Wills below the "not top 3 or top 10" but very good program to which he matched...another did the same, but his list included MEEI, Wilmer, UCLA, USC, and UCSF...(these are two of the five ophtho interns here at my TY alone).

I think the jargon of "top" program is much more subjective than you intend it...let's just say, in the United States with Ophtho being so selective that all programs are outstanding programs, with some being stronger in clinical volume, research, or surgical numbers, etc
