confuse over master degree

Hey Guys,
I need some advice. i graduated dec 2012 and planning to apply to med school this year and in the mean time i got admission for master of education program with conct in special education. do you guys think i shouldve gone with biology instead ? and being an education graduate student is gonna hurt my application for med school ?

Probably won't hurt if you a good reason why you went into that masters degree, which should be a reason relevant to medicine.
 
Thank you for the response, I feel the same way, However i just realized i may not be able to finish master by the time im going to med school , do you think it would be a problem?

There was a topic on pritzker's admissions podcast about this and it sounded like they strongly frown on incomplete graduate work prior to medical school.

Yeah, so "just hope for the best" really isn't the best approach to this whole enterprise. You might consider:

1) communicating with your prospective master's program about the likelihood of you finishing by your hoped-for med school matriculation date, and

2) contacting the admission offices of some of the medical schools you plan to apply to determine whether not finishing a graduate program is going to be an issue from their perspective.

Yes, it will be held as a negative if you aren't able to finish. "Hoping for the best" is a poor option. It is far better to wait until you're ready.
