So I used the AOA Mentor Progam to find a D.O. that I could shadow. Luckily, one of them answered me back and told me to contact the office administrator of his practice to arrange a date. After sending an e-mail to the officer administrator, she answered me back with this:

"I am writing to confirm receipt of your request.

Please have your school forward the appropriate paperwork as soon as possible.

Rotation Dates: xxx-xxxx.

If you need to contact me by phone call xxx-xxxx-xxxx. "

What do you guys think she means by appropiate paperwork? Like transcripts, and stuff like that? I'm going to ask her about this, but I don't want to sound dumb because maybe I'm ignoring something all premeds that are going to shadow a DO should know. Thanks.

I could be wrong about this but it seems to me they think that you're trying to set up an elective rotation that would normally be done during your third or fourth year. I would call them and tell them that you are Pre-med and just want to shadow on such and such dates.

Just call her and ask. Why be concerned what the "office administator" thinks of you? She should have told you what paperwork they need, if any. She's probably thinking that you're doing this for some sort of school requirement (rotation dates?) and need papers filled out.

It might also be the confidentiality paperwork for that particular hospital/clinic. I had to fill out a couple sheets on confidentiality when job shadowing. You might want to contact the specific hospital you are shadowing at.

You're getting rotationed as a pre-med? Pretty impressive.

Although I am shadowing/volunteering at the same office a pharm student is rotating for ambulatory care...
