I'm going to be a senior in the 2013-2014 school year and I still haven't been able to apply to pharmacy schools. I chose to do pharmacy a little later on in college and I'm not majoring in a science, so it's taking me a little longer than usual.
I would like to be able to start pharmacy as soon as I graduate, but I don't think that can happen and it's worrying me. This coming fall and spring I will be taking a bunch of science prerequisites leaving me with a couple classes left for my major before I can graduate. This means I'd probably have to take an extra semester in the fall of 2014 so I can get my degree. Does this mean I wouldn't be able to start pharmacy school until 2015?
I am also very confused about the application process in general. Does everyone just start applying once pharmcas opens? I want to apply as early as possible as soon as I get myself to be a good candidate, but does the problem with my degree mean I should wait until 2015 to apply? Or is there another way around this? I am also taking the PCAT this July. One option I have is to max out my 2013-2014 schedule with all the classes I need, but I still want to make sure I get good grades to raise my science GPA.
Any help is appreciated. This is worrying me.
