Hey guys,
So I'm confused about how residency works. What are the time durations for each field? I know that the residency training for both IM and Peds is three years, but suppose I want to do general cardiology, derm, or radiology?
With good USMLE scores, can I go straight into these fields from med school?
Or is it required to complete an IM or peds residency first and then apply for a cardiology fellowship of 2 years in order to become a general cardiologist?
I am not planning to specialize in a particular field as of now. I am happy with being a general pediatrician, cardiologist, dermatologist etc.
How does this process work?
Please let me know asap! Appreciate your responses =)
